Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Drones (HBO)

There is actually a legal debate on whether drone pilots are considered combat troops for the purposes of VA benefits. I think the high PTSD rates are good evidence that they are, but it is a very interesting topic.

For example, a navy cook on a destroyer might not be considered a combat troop, but if his ship is attacked, then he is considered a combat troop. The question boils down to the possible threat to life, and whether that only applies to the military personnel in question, or to also consider threat to life for the targets.
